Remember your mother telling you to eat oranges in order to supply your body with much needed Vitamin C? Well, researchers in California have discovered that oranges provide our bodies with other vitamins that help us fight off a variety of health problems.

Oranges are rich in a compound called citrus limonoids, which help to prevent cancers of the breast, colon, lung, mouth, skin and stomach. In laboratory tests animals and human cells both benefited from citrus limonoids in the fight against these cancers.

Chemist Gary D. Manners and a team of scientists at the Agricultural Research Service in northern California are now doing extensive research into the benefits of citrus limonoids to human health. Manners and his team reported findings from research that they have conducted over a number of years. It seems that each time we bite into a slice of orange or drink a glass of orange juice our bodies recognize a limonoid called limonin. It is believed that limonin also reduces cholesterol, which is linked to heart disease and other health problems.

Manners and his team are doing further research on the benefits of limonins in reducing cholesterol levels. Volunteers are taking part in the study and findings are being recorded.

It is important to give oranges to children under the age of two years. A new study shows that children who ate oranges four to six times a week in infancy had a lower risk of childhood leukemia. This may be due to the Vitamin C and anti-toxins present in the fruit that protects the DNA of children from environmental pollution and other factors that lead to leukemia. In addition to oranges, it is also beneficial to feed young children bananas and foods containing turmeric.

For optimum health benefits for the entire family, keep a good supply of oranges in your refrigerator. They are a refreshing healthy snack for people of all ages. Delicious and wonderful to eat, they also protect our bodies from cancers of all types.

A recent study by the University of Michigan Health System is beginning to prove what many mother’s have known all along. A glass of ginger ale or ginger tea does relieve nausea and stomach aches.

According to Suzanna Zick, N.D., MPH, research investigator in the study, “ginger does appear to have several medicinal qualities.” She also states that ginger can be used to warm the body and relieve some types of arthritis. This new study was funded to discover if ginger could be used in the treating of nausea caused by chemotherapy. The study is still ongoing and no conclusions have been reached.

The main component ingredient of ginger is gingerol, which is a strong antioxidant. By its nature, it works to reduce oxidants in the stomach by free. Another benefit is that it blocks serotonin receptors not allowing serotonin to enter causing more nausea.

The warming side effect of ginger is caused by the dilation of blood vessels, which can be helpful in some forms of arthritis.

Ginger has long been used in Chinese Medicine for nausea symptoms of motion sickness and pregnancy. From Ancient Greece, beginning with Pythagoras and down through the ages, ginger has been known for its healing properties. Several studies have been conducted to discover the benefit of ginger in motion sickness, concluding that a glass of ginger tea before travel does indeed reduce the symptoms.

Other suggested benefits include relief of migraines and the lowering of cholesterol. Science is only beginning to research this wonderful rhizome and many more uses for ‘ginger root’ may become viable in medicine in the future.

Ginger is available fresh or in many other forms such as dried, capsules, teas, tinctures and the old stand by — ginger ale. Consumers should make sure the product they are buying does indeed contain real ginger and not a synthetic product.

Other recommendations for an upset stomach include avoiding fatty foods, sweets, spicy or hot foods and strong aromatic foods. Foods to eat when feeling nauseous include small amounts of oatmeal, crackers, clear liquids (ginger ale), crackers and bland vegetables. Eating a small amount of gingersnap cookies, provided they are made with real ginger, can also help relieve an upset stomach.

In Medieval Europe, ginger was taken as a tonic to protect ones self from catching the plague. While this remedy has yet to be proven, what is known is that ginger can be taken safely and will indeed cure the common stomachache.

As domestic violence has grown so has domestic murder! Just last year a study concluded the number one cause of death amongst pregnant women alone was murder. Women face so many issues all around the world in today’s world, it’s really hard to teach a young woman the most important things to watch out for when dating or in relationships. The way things change every year, as numbers rise and more women die, maybe someone should write a complete box set about women’s issues in a complete compilation like encyclopedias.

The most highly publicized case that purely demonstrated the findings of last year’s study is the case surrounding the death of Lacey Peterson and her unborn child who were brutally murdered by Lacey’s husband Scott Peterson. The nation froze in complete shock to find out what Scott Peterson did with his very own wife and unborn son. The bad thing about it is, it’s not as uncommon as people think.

Dedicated workers, volunteers, women and activists for women’s rights have done an excellent job over the past twenty years for getting the word out about domestic violence. Domestic violence has been a featured topic on news stations, talk shows, newspaper articles and magazines warning women of the signs and steps to take to leave an abuser. Then who could forget the Cheryl Ladd movie that hit the air waves in the 80’s, “The Burning Bed”, depicted the life of an abused women who could take no more from her abuser and ultimately, you know the story.

Kudos to Cheryl Ladd for an excellent and realistic depiction of an abused woman.

Domestic violence cannot be spoken about without the mention of some of the dysfunctional ties associated. Another popular movie that in my opinion was rather graphic and is definitely not appropriate for children but adequately characterizes the truth is “Bastard Out Of Carolina”. If you’ve never seen it, if women’s and children’s issues peak your interest then it is a must see but it’s very graphic. It’s the life of a little girl whose mother is so in love with an abuser that even when she finds out that her lover has been molesting her daughter, the mother still can’t let him go. Ultimately choosing the love of a man over her abuse daughter.

The things that women go through, it’s really sad and even sadder to say that at least with the topics of domestic violence or chaotic dysfunctional events, one could expect domestic murder as an end result, which it happens. The circumstances that usually surround domestic murders of women are far from expected. The news of these murders rock the very foundations and personal beliefs of entire families, communities and at times, the entire nation.

What are some of the contributing factors that seem to spark domestic murders of women?

•	Unwanted pregnancy
•	Divorce or separation
•	Mental illness
•	An affair
•	Distrust
•	Wealth & Finance
•	Insurance policies

The list could go on and on but pregnancy is a big factor. If you’ve ever heard the term, “why buy the cow, when you can get the milk for free”, men will creep on the low but when it comes to taking responsibility for their actions, some begin plots of murder to cover it all up.

In essence a man knows that if a woman is pregnant and has his baby, he’ll pay child support and he can’t conceal a seed from his future. If you’re pregnant watch out for some warning signs:

•	If the relationship ends because of the pregnancy.
•	If he says, “You’re not the one to have my baby”.
•	If he asks you to have an abortion.
•	If he threatens you as to things he will do, if you refuse an abortion.
•	If he physically attacks you or says he’ll kill you.

Don’t underestimate words, words can be just as much a warning as a punch to the mouth. You can bet that women in the past, who have fallen victim to domestic murder at the hands of their men, didn’t experience relationship problems most common with victims of domestic violence and had virtually no warning!

The most important thing to do if this happens to you is to distance yourself and take care of your baby. If your X comes near you, phone the police and let them know what’s going on. Move in with a friend in a different locale and whatever you do, stay away from you X. If he tried to meet with you or asks you to not tell anyone that you are having conversations with you… tell as many people as you can!

Another reason some men choose to kill a wife or partner is divorce or separation. Feelings of rejection become too much couple with rage, anger, and sometimes embarrassment about the separation can push a man over the edge, literally. If you’re experiencing a separation, divorce or if you’ve already went through the stages but your X is still calling you, making threats, following you or writing letters, whatever it may be—be careful! If you are involved in a new relationship then make sure not to flaunt it, don’t invite problems in when you know the situation is already heated.

Mental illness, it can be hidden in marriages for years and then one day, “SNAP!”
No one can prepare for something unknown, if you suspect your partner of any funny behavior or you find any shocking material, don’t brush it off. Pay close attention.

If you’ve had an affair and your partner takes you back and acts as though everything is fine, run! A man who hasn’t had time or doesn’t know how to deal with his feelings could be plotting the same kind of vengeance.
Insurance money, wealth, inherited money can sometimes take greed to new extremes in already troubled relationships and those relationships that appear to be perfect, both ways, money can be a huge contributing factors. If you suspect any type of foul play, embezzlement or plots, inform the authorities and all of the people near you.

Domestic violence and domestic murder have plagued our precious daughters, mothers, sisters and females all around the world for thousands of years. If you or someone you know may be suffering call the nearest women’s shelter for resources. Don’t let domestic violence or domestic murder touch your family, volunteer, donate money and do something.

Many people view sexual dysfunction as a disorder that primarily affects older men and the problem is often associated with the widely advertised prescription drugs that are used to treat the disorder.

Sexual dysfunction is an important public health concern for women in America. According to a study from the Journal of the American Medical Association, up to 63% of women suffer from sexual dysfunction and 30-50% of American couples are affected by the disorder.

Female sexual dysfunction is described as a lack of sexual desire, decreased arousal, inability to have an orgasm, and pain during sexual activity. Sexual dysfunction most often affects younger women but can affect women of all ages.

There are many physical causes for female sexual dysfunction and those include diabetes, heart disease, kidney diseases, liver failure, urinary tract infections, and hormonal imbalances. Substance abuse, heavy smoking, and drug side effects can also greatly contribute to sexual problems.

There are also a variety of psychological causes that are associated with sexual dysfunction like stress, anxiety, relationship problems, depression or sexual trauma.

The study surprisingly revealed that factors such as marital status, educational level and ethnicity are associated with a higher risk of sexual disorders. Single women are more likely to experience difficulties achieving orgasm, black women report more incidents of low sexual desire and white women are the most likely to experience painful intercourse.

Women with lower educational achievements are likely to have issues relating to sexual satisfaction and suffer from sexual anxiety. Overall, women with college degrees and Hispanic women are the two groups least likely to report sexual problems.

The study also points out that those women who have endured traumatic sexual events such as child sexual abuse or those who have experienced a rape are more likely to be living with an arousal disorder. It is not uncommon for women to suffer the consequences of sexual abuse for decades after the event took place.

Having an open and honest discussion with your partner about your sexual concerns is often the most important step in seeking treatment. Communicate with your partner about your feelings about sexual intimacy and ask for his support in resolving the issues that affect both of you.

Many women are reluctant to discuss concerns about their sexuality with their family doctor but sexual health is an essential part of your well-being and there are many medical and non medical treatments for female sexual dysfunction. Being able to openly discuss matters of sexuality with your doctor will greatly increase your chances of finding a successful treatment plan.

Some doctors are recommending pelvic floor exercises for some arousal and orgasm problems. These exercises strengthen the muscles used to produce pleasurable sensations and can help many women. In addition, doctors may suggest vaginal weights to tone muscles in the pelvic floor.

Many women have experienced improvements with hormone therapy. Hormone therapies come in a variety of forms including tablets, vaginal rings, creams, patches and often resolve issues that are not caused by emotional or social factors.

When sexual dysfunction is related to psychological causes, talking to a counselor or therapist often improves sexual responses. Therapists can often help women work through negative sexual experiences relating to cultural or religious beliefs, prior sexual experiences and their own personal emotions and feelings that play a role in the ability to have a pleasurable sexual experience.
