Most of us associate the month of March with St. Patrick’s Day, which is celebrated on March 17th. We envision the Lucky Charms Leprechaun, four leaf clovers and a pot of gold at the end of a rainbow. We dress in our greenest apparel and hope for the luck of the Irish. But March is also Nutrition Month and besides being the first day of Spring, March 20th is also Meatout Day. On that day meat eaters can take the opportunity to see what it’s like to be a vegetarian.
With March being Nutrition Month, it is the perfect time to go vegetarian since many people consider a vegetarian diet to be more healthy. If meat has been a part of your daily diet throughout your life, becoming a vegetarian probably won’t happen overnight even if you want to make the switch. But you can gradually remove meat from your regular diet and replace it with healthier veggie substitutes.
