There has been a lot of media focus on surgical weight loss in recent years. In part this is due to celebrity stories such as that of Carnie Wilson. However surgical weight loss is not something to be taken lightly. The procedures can have prolonged effects and require sacrifice and life style change just as any weight loss program. These procedures are not quick fixes.

Gastric Bypass, such as Carnie Wilson had, requires that the person make a complete life style change. One must control their portions continually after the procedure because the stomach has been reduced in size. Over eating often leads to nausea, sweating, and vomiting. Therefore this procedure is not for people who do not have the will power to diet and exercise. Rather the procedure is for the person who diets and exercises correctly but can not lose the weight. Also the procedure is not to be used by those who are slightly overweight. One should be at least 100 lbs overweight before considering this procedure in which the stomach is reduced to a small pouch. Continue reading »

Take the carrot – the vegetable your mother always told you to eat because it’s good for. She was right. This versatile root is perfect in stews, pot roasts, salads, and stir fries or raw. It’s a nutritional powerhouse of beta carotene, vitamin A and C, fibre, calcium, and complex carbohydrates. Yet it’s part of the modern day eating dilemma. Carrots can be genetically modified; they might have other DNA from other plants or even animals. Other modern day carrot dilemmas include irradiation and pesticide spraying. Many low carbohydrate diets restrict carrot intake because of their sugar and carbohydrate content. If carrots aren’t safe or right for everyone, what food is?
In the last twenty years people have endured many food scares, cholesterol in eggs, sodium in salt, mad cow’s disease, cancer and diabetes causing sweeteners, and trans fats contributing to heart disease. Almost everyday, there are newspaper articles about unsafe or unhealthy foods and how our crops are altered, or/and sprayed. Reading the newspapers and watching the news it’s easy to get the impression that all food either causes cancer, other diseases or is responsible for the obesity epidemic. Continue reading »

In recent years, gastric bypass surgery has become a more accepted method of treating obesity. While it may seem an easy fix, this surgery can be dangerous and may have complications. How do you know if it is the right decision for you? You need to be sure that you are well-informed before jumping into a major surgery such as gastric bypass.

Gastric bypass surgery is basically designed to make the stomach much smaller and to bypass a portion of the small intestine. The actual procedure is to staple the stomach to form only a small pouch at the top. This reduced stomach is then connected to the small intestine, but in the middle of the small intestine, allowing any ingested food to bypass the majority of the stomach and half of the small intestine, where many nutrients (and calories) would normally be absorbed.

If this sounds drastic, that’s because it is. Gastric bypass surgery is not for the faint of heart. It is usually only recommended in extreme cases of obesity, although ultimately it has become more of a cure-all for those suffering from overweight. It is always best to try natural weight loss methods first, including exercise and proper diet. Continue reading »

When it comes to fitness and weight loss, men and women are different, and the two sexes have different needs. It is important for any fitness and weight loss program to focus on these differences, and how those differences can be used to enhance the effectiveness of the program.

It is important to keep in mind, for instance, that men and women tend to store fat in different locations in the body, and to remember that it is natural for women to have a higher percentage of body fat than men. Women who attempt to reduce their body fat levels to those of their male bodybuilder friends can risk serious health effects, including the cessation of menstruation, muscle loss and hair loss. While reducing body fat is an important part of increasing fitness, it is important not too sacrifice healthy eating habits and good health in the process.

Genetics may play a part in the loss of our hair, but personal preference plays the larger role in determining how we deal with it.  Whether we have major hair loss or just a bit of minor thinning out, options are available to disguise that fact.  From surgical to non-surgical methods, hair replacement technology weaves an almost magical spell of hair the form that hair was meant to be.

    Hairpieces

Fortunately for the wearer of today’s hairpiece, technology has come a long way from the earliest models of hairpieces.  In fact, some of the better hairpieces are almost indistinguishable from the real thing.

Obviously, price dictates quality.  Therefore, if you expect a fine quality product, then you must realize that you will probably pay a higher price for it.  Custom made pieces offer more versatility for the individual wearer of the hairpiece.

The mislead of hate and rage to one’s self instead of people around in belief of causing loss of people around. (A character in that kind of a structure has not had regular and sufficient mother- child relation in one’s early 1-2 years. The depression the person goes through is related to a real or assumed loss.)

    - As a person, one’s surroundings and expectations from future, ideals and one’s real situation could be so very different from the real world, so distracted and so inappropriate that being not able to reach these high standards may lead to weakness and loneliness thoughts and depression.

    - One’s super ego could be so powerful and dominant that it restricts, blames, takes away from comforting and pleasure-giving activities, as if torturing.

    - People around one may expect so many things that it’s impossible to establish. This may lead to some thoughts of weakness and misery and turn them into depression.
