    The Dead Sea is aptly named. Its enormously high concentration of sea salt makes its completely hostile to typical marine life. There are no fish, no plants, and no life forms at all. The deeper parts of The Dead Sea are over ten times saltier than ocean water. Underwater, and around the shores, are absolutely piled with salt. But this isn’t the ordinary salt you find on your grocer’s shelves. Table salt, pure sodium chloride, is very drying to the skin (and can actually be harmful to people with certain medical conditions), but the salts from the Dead Sea are actually mineral salts.
