Baby shower crafts are usually tied somehow to the theme of the party, which can be anything from storks to ducks to stars to teddy bears. Before deciding on what kind of baby shower crafts you would like to ask guests to bring to the party, decide on a theme and a color scheme for the event. If you are on a budget, at the very least decorate the party area with a banner that welcomes the mom. Featuring her picture in a prominent place is also a complimentary and flattering practice that makes her feel loved and appreciated by her friends.

Baby shower crafts are well suited to beading projects. A unique way to identify guests at a party would be to create baby necklaces, similar to the kind that are worn by babies at the hospital. These kinds of beads, which have letters on them, can be purchased at a supply store. The idea is that the necklace boasts the name of the guest and is worn during the party. Baby beads can be purchased at most bead and craft supply stores. Sometimes you can also get beads that are shaped like small toy building blocks. These building block beads suit showers that have an “ABC” or alphabet theme.

Party favors are often home made so they are also considered to be baby shower crafts. The easiest party favors are constructed out of blue or pink tulle or netting that is filled with tiny baby bottles, Hershey’s kisses, safety pins hung with good luck charms or other kinds of candies. Gummy bears tied with a pink or blue net make a nice party favor for guests to take home. Gummy bears can also be used to decorate a cake. A more elaborate baby shower craft that makes a great take home gift is an image of a teddy bear that has been inserted inside a plastic snow-shaker ornament. These empty snow-shaker ornaments can be purchased at craft stores.

Suitable baby shower crafts for a nursery rhyme themed shower include a paper tablecloth decorated with written out nursery rhymes and paper cutouts of popular nursery rhyme figures decorating the wall. A decorative centerpiece can be made of “silver bells and cockle shells” (lilies of the valley and seashells.)

Star shaped glitter can be sprinkled inside the invitation envelopes and also sprinkled around candles and flower arrangements for a star themed shower. Stars constructed out of aluminum foil can strung from ceiling fixtures and white twinkling Christmas lights can be used to enhance the celestial effect. The color scheme of this shower is usually silver and blue baby shower crafts. A nice idea is to put a portrait of the mother inside a giant hand-made star shaped frame and put in a prominent place. A money tree, which is a tree branch spray-painted gold or silver, can also be set up at this party and guests are encouraged to tape or pin money to the tree

This wonderful idea for a baby shower craft is a group activity. It is not for the shy mom as it involves her lying on the floor, while her friends make a plaster cast of her pregnant tummy. The guests mingle and chow down while the plaster cast dries and before they leave they inscribe their good wishes for the mommy and the baby on the resulting sculpture.

This party baby shower craft not only makes a hilarious video, but also leaves mom with a keepsake she can treasure for decades. One caveat: remember to lay plastic sheeting down on the floor and provide your guests with aprons or shifts to protect their clothing as things can get kind of messy. Also make sure that your bathroom is spotless and that mom has plenty of clean towels, as she may need to take a shower afterwards. This is because Mom’s belly is often prepped for the cast by using copious amounts of Vaseline. No matter how messy it may seem, trust us when we tell you that this is one of the best baby shower crafts you can give an expectant mother, as it is an artifact that she will cherish for years to come.

Traditionally, a baby shower is held for the Mother. It’s a time for her and her friends to enjoy the blessed event that’s about to happen. She will bring a new life into this world. A close friend is usually the one to throw the party. Gifts will be exchanged, games will be played and advice is sure to be given.

Having a co-ed baby shower is not quite common yet but it is certainly getting there. A baby shower doesn’t have to be just for the Mother anymore, it can be both for the Mother and the Father. The Father of this unborn child should certainly be included in the celebration.

Nothing really changes, except for now there will be men present at the party. The same original games can be played such as, “How Fast Can You Dress That BABY” and “Baby Scramble.” When you are planning the baby shower activities, you will want to keep the men in mind so you don’t have games that are for women only. However, you may want to go a different route when it comes to gifts.

A few ideal gifts for the father would be a book for expectant fathers, a collectable that he will be able to pass down to his child and cologne. Try to find out what his interests are and go from there. If he is really into sports give him something that is about sports.

It is still unique to have a co-ed baby shower but it is always best to check with the men before including them. Sometimes men aren’t very comfortable with these events and that’s okay. If you are throwing a surprise baby shower, you will need to find a creative way of getting inside information on how the Father would feel about attending.

If you know a close male friend of his, have them initiate a conversation about baby showers and see if you can get some feedback.

Here’s a list of male-friendly games:

How Fast Can You Dress That Baby

You will need a baby doll, baby doll clothes and a watch. Each person will take his or her turn at dressing the baby. Someone will need to use a watch to time each person. The one who can dress the baby the fastest will win.

Baby Scramble

You will a need a timer and pencils/pens for this game. Each person will be given a list of words that are scrambled. One person will have to stay out of this game and read off the answers. When the timer starts, everyone should be trying to unscramble the words. The person with the most correct answer will win this game.

Dirty Diaper

You will need a variety of candy-bars, diapers and a microwave. Place the candy-bar in the diaper and microwave it for about 10 seconds. Hand out the dirty diapers and have them guess what candy made this dirty diaper. To help you keep track, give each candy-bar a number and write the number on the diaper. Whoever guesses right gets a prize.

Don’t Say “Baby”

This is an original game that is probably played at every baby shower. Hand out a ribbon to be pinned to each guest. When someone hears another person say the word “baby” they can take that persons ribbon. The guest with the most ribbons at the end of the party should win a prize.

Once your baby is on the move, it is time to childproof your home. To effectively childproof your home, you need to think like your child.

Get down low.
For starters, get down low. Take a crawl around your home in every room your child might possibly spend time in, and look for hazards. It might feel ridiculous, but seeing dangers from your child’s eye view is the best way to discover potential harm to your child, as well as to spot breakables you’ll want to move to higher ground.

Carry a notepad with you and take note of everything that needs childproofing. Don’t rely on your memory to recall every danger.

Purchase a childproofing kit.
Once you have determined every childproofing need, purchase childproof locks, outlet covers, and surface bumpers. A combination childproofing kit is a good start, but you will likely need to purchase a few additional accessories to suit your home’s unique needs.

Cabinet locks.
Cabinet locks install to the interior or exterior of cabinet doors to keep small children away from harmful substances. Cabinet locks work by catching the cabinet door once it is opened one or two inches; spring-action child locks are pressed down past the keeper so the door may be opened by adults.

Cabinets that cannot have interior locks installed can be fitted with exterior child locks. Several varieties are available. Exterior child locks may be permanently installed, or they may straddle door knobs with ratcheting action to keep two doors from opening.

Outlet covers.
Outlet covers are one of the most important childproofing features. Outlet covers are quick and easy to install. Push an outlet cover into every available electrical outlet, including extension cords and empty power strip outlets.

There are a variety of outlet cover designs available as well. Full plate covers are installed over the entire unit, with a sliding or turning outlet cover opening. These usually work by inserting the plug, turning to open the outlet, then pushing the plug into the wall outlet. The cover snaps closed when the plug is removed. The advantage these covers have is that the lock is never misplaced or forgotten after outlet use.

Surface bumpers.
Furniture with sharp edges and fireplace hearths may need padded bumpers to cover the edges in case your child falls against it. Most varieties are elasticized and stretch easily over the edge. Some stick on.

Safety gates.
Purchase and install safety gates at every doorway and stairway where children should not enter.

Pressure gates are appropriate for doorways and the bottom of stairs to keep children from climbing up. At the top of stairways, gates should be permanently installed so that a push or fall of a child does not dislodge them and send your child tumbling down the stairs.

Fireplaces and wood stoves must be properly gated as well. Fence and gate systems should be permanently mounted to the floor and/or walls to secure stove areas.

Knob covers.
Keep children from wandering outside and away from off-limit rooms with door knob covers. Knob covers fit loosely over the knob, hindering children from turning the knob to open. Adults squeeze the knob cover (without removing) to open the door.

Childproofing is very important in homes with mobile babies and toddlers. It is never too early to start childproofing, you’ll simply be ahead of the curve. Even a baby that rolls around at a few months of age needs to be protected from themselves and their environment. Having the task of childproofing out of the way before baby starts traveling will prevent an unfortunate circumstance or a rush to secure the home while trying to keep a curious baby sedentary.

The end of the pregnancy should be as relaxing as possible. There are many things to plan. Planning the trip to the hospital is one of them. Be prepared ahead of time by packing a suitcase that can be grabbed in the instant you head to the hospital.

What to Pack for You

Hospital stays vary in length after a birth. It is on average a couple days at most depending on what type of birth you have, or any other complications that may arise. A cesarean birth usually warrants a longer hospital stay.

Here is a list of common items to pack for you for your hospital stay after the birth. Make sure there aren’t any regulations in place at the hospital you are staying at that prohibits certain items in the rooms. It is uncommon for this to happen but in certain areas such as the intensive care unit some items are not permitted.

Nightgown- You don’t want to have to wear that silly looking hospital gown forever do you?

Pillow from home- Nothing like a scent and taste of home to make you feel comfortable

Toiletries such as toothbrush, toothpaste and a hair brush. You may not feel like these things after the birth but they are good to have in case you want or need them. Hygiene is important even after a long labor or birth.

Entertainment material such as books and other things to read. Perhaps you are an artist. Most of your time will be spent getting acquainted with your newborn but they do sleep and you may have time to yourself. Just in case you do, bring something to do.

Nursing stuff if you plan to breastfeed. A good nursing bra and pads and perhaps some maternity underwear.

An outfit for going home in. You will probably still need loose clothing and some comfortable shoes.

What to Pack for Baby

The baby is just as important. The baby doesn’t come with clothes or other stuff like that. The hospital may provide you with a small blanket and hat but that is about it. So bring some stuff for your baby when it’s time to check out. Here is a list of common items that should be brought along for baby.

An outfit or two.

An infant car seat. The hospital shouldn’t allow you to leave without one.

A blanket. Make sure you have a blanket heavy enough if it is cold outside.

Socks or booties. You may want these in case the weather is cold.

Packing for Your Mate, Spouse, Partner or Birthing Coach

You may think about packing for yourself or the baby but the partner or birthing coach is also involved. Make sure they pack some stuff too. Common items can include:

Extra Clothes. Labor isn’t always short. It can be a long drawn out process. Bringing extra clothes is important for not only baby and mother, but for the birthing coach, father or partner too.

Toiletries such as deodorant, hair care and toothbrushes are important too.

Some entertainment for those hours of waiting. Reading material or other material.

Make sure arrangements for parking have been made. Most hospitals have places to park but some charge for overnight parking depending on where you are.

Bring some snacks. A lot of hospitals have snack vending machines. But that can add up the money. Bringing your own snacks from home can help fray the costs.

Camera or video camera. Some hospitals won’t allow this so make sure you know your hospital’s policies.

What Not to Pack

There are just some things that shouldn’t be brought with you to the hospital for birth. Here is a short list of the things that aren’t recommended on the stay.

Extra money. Only bring what is necessary. Leave your purse at home if at all possible. This can avoid loss in the shuffling of rooms or when checking out of the hospital.

Jewelry. Avoid wearing excessive jewelry. It only gets in the way of things. Plus it’s extra stuff to remember to bring home with you when you check out of the hospital.

Items such as laptop computers. These will only serve as distractions from the main issue: the baby.

There are many things to get ready for the birth. You will have enough to remember on that day. So be prepared ahead of time by packing your bags a few weeks before the big day.

Breastfeeding is natural, so milk from a healthy mother is obviously better for a baby than formula. The colostrum or pre-milk that comes in during the first days after birth is said to be especially beneficial, and it cannot be mimicked by synthetic formulas. It may help strengthen a baby’s immune system, help prevent Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (SIDS), and help babies fight off childhood diseases. Breastfeeding may also help prevent allergies and disease later in life, including chronic diseases, such as diabetes.

Because it is all natural, breast milk contains easy to digest, easily broken down proteins. This not only eases digestion and passage of waste, but may also help prevent colic.

Breastfeeding helps promote growth, strength, and development, including cognitive development. Many breast-fed babies achieve milestones more quickly than formula fed babies the same age. Older children who were breastfed as babies often display a higher capacity for learning.

The benefits to your baby are obvious, but moms benefit from breastfeeding too. Not only does a mother take pleasure in the closeness with her baby and feel good about giving her child the best possible start in life, but she also received physical benefits in most cases. Nursing mothers tend to heal from the trauma of childbirth more quickly. They also eat healthier, because they are still in effect eating for two. Nursing moms also require less time to lose weight and return to pre-pregnancy shape, because breastfeeding burns so many calories.

Many new mothers despair at ever recovering their pre-baby body, especially if they have had more than one child. There are a few tips to getting rid of that excess, though, that mothers can take advantage of.

Breastfeed. If you are able to breastfeed, even just for a couple of months, you will find that you lose weight faster. Doctors recommend adding around 500 calories to your daily diet if you are breastfeeding because it takes a lot of energy to provide all that nutrition for your little one. Also, the nipple stimulation caused by a nursing baby helps contract the uterus back to its regular size far faster, which makes your stomach look smaller almost immediately.

Drink water. Keeping your fluid intake up right after the birth will help flush the excess liquid and toxins out of your body. If you experienced edema or hypertension during the pregnancy, this is a super fast way to lose those massive calves and huge thighs, they seem to just melt away after a few days!

Get out with the baby. Babies enjoy the stimulation of being outdoors, looking at new people and things, even while very small. The exercise is great for you as well. Pop your baby into that new carrier and head out for a walk. You don’t need to hike up a mountain or anything, but even a twenty minute stroll on a daily basis will help you regain your figure.

Join a baby exercise class. There’s nothing like paying for something to motivate you to keep doing it! There are a number of classes available for moms with babies and you are bound to find one that fits your tastes. Check out a baby yoga class or one of the new stroller exercise groups that are forming around the country.

Don´t do it alone. Find other moms in your area and get together to go for walks or take your babies to the park. There is probably a mother’s group in your area that you can join. If you aren’t sure where to look, try contacting your local health center or a daycare to ask. Having another mom to hold you accountable can go a long way in making sure you stick to exercising and avoid those tempting chips.

Avoid hunger. When you are busy with a newborn, it can be tempting to just grab any old thing to stave off hunger pains, but this is a good way to add pounds instead of taking them off! Instead, have quick, healthy snack options for when you just can’t manage to cook. Granola bars and fruit are excellent choices. They provide nutrition for you and your baby, fill you up quickly and are instant.

Take your vitamins. A worn out body won’t be able to deal with weight loss, so make sure you keep your immune system up by taking the vitamins recommended by your doctor. This allows your body to recover from the stress of childbirth and helps you get healthy again.

Drop the stress. Stressed out bodies store fat. Even if you are doing everything else right, a stressful lifestyle could be affecting your weight loss. Do your best to ease the pressures that you face each day and you will drop those baby pounds faster. Not worrying about household chores and accepting the help that is offered by friends and family members, can go a long way toward making you feel better.

Joining an online dieting community is a good way to motivate yourself, too. You can find websites that offer success stories, healthy meal plans and forums where you can connect with other people in the same boat. It is inspiring to see that other people have done what you want to do, plus you can get help from others in the forums if you find yourself stagnating.

Keep a food journal. By writing down and tracking your food intake each day, you can make sure that you are eating the right number of calories for this point in your life. It is also a very good way to become aware of exactly how much you are eating. For many people, this is a surprise! Most of us eat far more than we think we do in a day. A food journal will also allow you to figure out where to tweak your diet to be healthier.

Losing baby weight is not an easy task. Take it slowly and don’t expect overnight results. By following the tips above, you should be able to enhance your post-baby weight loss experience and get back in shape.

A baby born in the ninth month of pregnancy has a very high chance of survival. After your 37th week, your pregnancy is considered full-term, so can start expecting your baby to arrive at any time. However, it is quite normal for your pregnancy to extend beyond the ninth month, even until a couple of weeks past your due date.

During the ninth month of pregnancy, your baby will be gaining about a half pound every week. His or her lungs have matured, but your baby’s immune system is still immature, so your body is sending antibodies to your baby to boost the immune system and prepare him or her for life outside the womb. Your baby is waking and sleeping just like a newborn during the ninth month of pregnancy. Your baby’s movements will be feeling more like rolling and squirming than kicking, since your baby has less room to move around now. At the end of the ninth month, your baby will measure between eighteen and twenty-one inches long, and will weigh between six and ten pounds.

Your Body

Your doctor or midwife will most likely want to start seeing you once every week during your ninth month of pregnancy. They will be checking the position of the baby, as well as any progress in dilation or effacement in your cervix. Make sure all of your labor and childbirth plans are in order with your doctor or midwife.

If it hasn’t happened already, in the ninth month your baby will probably move deep into the pelvis and engage, which is also called lightening, in preparation for birth. This position will put extra pressure on your pelvis and bladder, but it may help alleviate any shortness of breath. It is common during the ninth month of pregnancy to have difficulty sleeping. Try different sleeping positions or even different places. You might suddenly find the couch or the guest room bed much more comfortable during the ninth month of pregnancy. It is common during this month to feel both energized or weary at different times. You may experience nesting, a desire to do extensive cleaning and organizing. Just be sure not to wear yourself out. Save your energy for labor and childbirth. You may also notice appetite changes in the ninth month of pregnancy. A sharp increase or decrease in appetite is normal during this month.

Your Emotions

Mixed emotions make a comeback in the ninth month of pregnancy. You are probably feeling excited about your baby’s upcoming arrival, nervous about childbirth, and just plain tired of being pregnant. It is also common for women to wish that they could be pregnant forever, even in the ninth month of pregnancy. Your concerns about childbirth and parenthood may have you wishing pregnancy would never end. Having someone supportive to talk to will help you get through these final days of pregnancy.

Choosing a name for your baby is a very important task as you await your new arrival. The name will serve as your child’s identification for life and he will use it in everything he does. But, the process does not have to be stressful. With all of the preparations involved in getting ready for the new member of your family, keep the following suggestions in mind to help make naming the baby a fun, joyous experience.

You will probably have many suggestions from friends and family of names for your baby. Let everyone give their input, but remember that the decision remains with you and your mate. Make a list early on of some possible choices. Set the list aside for a while and come back to it. Usually some names will stand out above the others. When considering a name, say it out loud several times. Say it in combination with the middle and last names. Consider what types of nicknames might be generated from it. Be careful to avoid a name that might subject the child to ridicule from other children. Also, be mindful of the child’s initials and make sure they do not spell or stand for anything undesirable.

Some parents prefer family names and some family members may expect you to follow tradition in naming your baby, but you do not need to feel locked into a family name if you really have other preferences. Sometimes the traditional name can be used as a middle name if you wish to include it. You can even have two middle names if you are having trouble deciding, but avoid giving the baby more than three names. If you are planning to use a family name, you may want to ask around to make sure that other family members are not planning to use it in the exact same form.

There is often a tendency among parents to choose names of celebrities or people they admire. Remember that names that are popular now may not always be popular. Some parents prefer to come up with a very unique name for their child. Be careful about being creative. Unique names can be confusing and difficult to pronounce. Unusual spellings of a name may not be a good idea either since the child will continually have to correct the spelling of it by others. Also, buying name-related products such as toys, room décor or jewelry will be virtually impossible with a unique or unusually spelled name. Perhaps you should save the creativity for the middle name.

Names have meanings. Many parents choose a name by considering what the child means to their lives or qualities that they hope will be present in his. Consider the sound of the entire name when making your decision. Don’t choose a first name with a lot of syllables if your last name has multiple syllables. Avoid a first name that ends in a vowel if your last name starts with a vowel. Be careful of rhyming names or those that form a pun. If you dislike nicknames, choose a name that does not easily lend itself to nicknames.

Some couples argue over choosing a name for their baby but the process should be fun! Don’t rush to make a decision. Many parents narrow the choices down to two or three and then wait until the baby is born to make the final selection. For some, seeing their baby and holding her in their arms makes the decision become clear. Often, one name just seems to fit. Use these tips and keep the process of naming your baby on a light, happy note and you will soon have the perfect name for your new baby.

It can be a tough job being pregnant. Not only have you got yourself to look after, with a body that is constantly changing and strange pregnancy symptoms you hadn’t expected, but there’s an added growing individual inside, making additional demands on you. And with many women also trying to work and look after a family, it’s not surprising that stress occurs! But whilst a bit of stress is normal, too much could impact on both you and your baby, so just how can you learn to relax and unwind?

Learning to relax is a good move for both you and your baby. Research has shown that babies in the womb can pick up on the fact that you’re stressed and it may have an affect on them. “Maternal stress is an important predictor of a baby’s behaviour,” explains Mary Nolan, a National Childbirth Trust antenatal instructor. “Adrenaline and other chemicals released can have some effect. A Utrecht study in 2000 showed that if a baby’s brain, which is so plastic in pregnancy and during the early weeks, is exposed to high levels of stress, then there might be a behavioural effect later in life, such as your baby not settling easily.”

Researchers from Bristol University found that children born to mums who were highly stressed during late pregnancy were more likely to be vulnerable to experiencing anxiety later in life. Plus, other research suggests being stressed during the early weeks of pregnancy could increase the risk of miscarrying. So there are plenty of good reasons to relax.

Learning to Relax

Although you may already consider yourself perfectly capable of relaxing, sometimes it helps to take a step back from the situation and have a good look at how you unwind or try some different methods. This is especially so during pregnancy, as it can make huge demands on your body and affect you in ways you weren’t expecting. But relaxing isn’t always easy, especially when your life is busy, you’re working or have family to look after.

“It’s important to give yourself permission to be pregnant. Pregnancy makes many demands on a woman’s body and it’s good to allow your body to cope,” advises Mary. “Being relaxed makes pregnancy more enjoyable for the mother. If you can relax, you feel good about the pregnancy and it’s better for everyone.” However, she added that, “It doesn’t mean it’s necessarily universal that a stressed woman will have a ‘difficult’ baby though.”

The good thing is that relaxation doesn’t have to mean sitting down and doing nothing – although that is certainly beneficial sometimes – as you can unwind, help your body and enjoy yourself in other ways. “Listen to your body and if it says, ‘I want a 20 minute nap,’ then have it,” suggests Mary. “Or take some gentle exercise, as it helps stimulate your cardiovascular system. Above all, stop and listen to your body and respond to its needs.”

Sometimes relaxation can be aided by using essential oils, for example by adding a few drops to an oil burner, in a bath or even on a tissue to sniff when you’re feeling stressed. You do need to take care though, as some oils aren’t recommended for use during pregnancy. You may also have to search around and try sniffing different oils to see what you fancy, as with a heightened sense of smell during pregnancy, what appeals to one woman may seem abhorrent to another.

To get your started, Susan Philipson, a midwife and nurse who’s now a natural health practitioner, suggests, “Try a relaxing bath with three or four drops of essential oil. Good ones are lavender, sandalwood or geranium. Tangerine and mandarin are softer and less offensive than some others, so maybe more acceptable for pregnant women. Some women use lemon and grapefruit with sweet orange, or ylang ylang, which is very relaxing and euphoric.”

If you’re really stressed and need an instant pick-me-up, Susan recommends trying the Bach Rescue Remedy, a form of flower remedy. It’s safe to take and helps deal with mood and emotional problems, calming you down when you need it. Put a few drops in a glass of water or directly on your tongue.

Six Ways to De-Stress Daily

Take a nap, however long or short, when you feel in need. If your body wants to sleep, let it!

Do some exercise. It’s good for your physical and mental wellbeing and triggers the release of endorphins, natural chemicals that make you feel good. Try a short walk, swimming or gentle yoga.

Try swimming or join an aqua natal class. The water supports the body well, taking some of the aches and pains away.

Treat yourself. Whether it’s a coffee with a friend, a good book, a day out or even a massage, doing something for yourself can do you the power of good.

Laugh. As the saying goes, “Laughter is the best medicine,” and it’s free, so try and inject some humour in your daily life. Read a funny book, watch a comedy, share jokes or try and see the funny side of situations.

Talk to someone. If you’re worried and stress is really getting to you, don’t suffer in silence. Share your feelings with your partner, family or friends or have a chat with your midwife or a GP.

Your Baby

Week by week, your baby is changing rapidly. By the end of the second month of pregnancy, your baby will begin to have the appearance of a tiny human being. At this point, your baby is referred to as a fetus. Early on in the second month, your baby’s heart will begin to beat and can be seen during an ultrasound. Your baby is developing eyelids, which will stay shut for some time. During the second month of pregnancy, your baby will begin to develop all of his major organs, including the brain, stomach, and lungs. Toes and fingers are also forming during this time. By the end of the second month, bone cells are beginning to form. Your baby will be about one inch long and will weigh less than one ounce at the end of this month.

Your Body

You are now in the middle of the first trimester of pregnancy. During your second month of pregnancy, you will probably begin regular prenatal care with your doctor or midwife. Your health care provider will be checking your weight, blood pressure, and the size of your uterus with each appointment. Be sure to ask your doctor or midwife any questions you may have about your pregnancy, your baby, or your health.

If you did not feel the effects of pregnancy in the first month, it is likely you will start experiencing them during the second month. Morning sickness, which can occur throughout the day and night, is common at this time. Cravings for certain foods may also begin during the second month of pregnancy, as well as a strong dislike for particular foods. Headaches are also common during this stage of pregnancy. Talk to your doctor about ways to relieve your headaches without medication, since most pain relievers are not approved for pregnancy during the first trimester. You may also begin to experience dizziness at times during your second month of pregnancy. Try rising more slowly from a sitting position if that is when you typically feel dizzy. Tenderness in the breasts is also typical starting at the middle of the second month.

Your Emotions

During the second month of pregnancy, many women still don’t “feel” pregnant. You may become frustrated with morning sickness or the fact that your favorite jeans are getting more difficult to button. You also may find yourself drawn to baby clothes when you are shopping as you begin to realize there really is a new life inside of you. This can be a scary and exciting feeling. Make sure you have someone to talk to about your fears and expectations of pregnancy and motherhood.
