I was once a victim of domestic violence. From within my own home, I had no rights. This is a new era; women are supposed to be treated fairly. Was it fair for me to be prevented from attaining my goals? I had dreams just like any other woman. I wanted to get married, have a family, and work to support them. I wanted to go to college, get a degree, and become successful. I wanted to go out with others, have a good time, and maintain my independence. I wanted to pursue my hobbies and other interests. More importantly, I wanted to be accepted for my flaws and praised for my accomplishments.

Anyone who has been paying attention to the financial news lately knows that skyrocketing health care costs for current employees and retirees is threatening to bankrupt some of our biggest companies. From the problems at GM and Ford to the issues facing the major airlines, health care burdens are quickly becoming unsustainable, and many companies are taking proactive steps to head off a looming crisis for their own industries.
One innovative approach some employers are using is an attempt to increase the healthfulness of their workforce through the use of onsite health clinics. Perhaps the most famous employer to try this approach has been Wal-Mart, and if the Wal-Mart plan for in store employee health clinics succeeds it is a good bet that other large employers will follow suit.

It’s that time of year again. Celebratory dinners, chilly weather and holiday parties bring people together. Families and friends will huddle indoors around the fireplace and share more than just memories of holidays past. Sneezes, coughs and airborne viruses will mingle with cheerful banter. It’s a recipe for immuno-disaster! What’s a healthy family supposed to do, postpone Thanksgiving? Cancel Christmas? If you’d rather enjoy a turkey dinner while others sip chicken soup, combine these five ingredients with your daily routine.1. Diet
To build a strong immune system in children, begin a healthy diet of breast milk from birth. As children grow and begin to eat solid foods, the recipe for a healthy diet becomes similar to that of an adult. When planning family meals, keep in mind vegetables and fruits contain the vitamins and minerals that help strengthen the immune system, but grains are also important. A multi-vitamin can fill in the gaps where diet lacks, extra doses of vitamin C and zinc help, and drinking water hydrates and cleanses the body. Continue reading »

Everyone knows how important it is to get in shape, but working out can be difficult in today’s fast food lifestyle. Simply finding the time to devote to ourselves can be difficult when there are so many things, and so many people, competing for our limited time and attention. That is why getting away at a fitness retreat can be such a treat for the mind, the body and the soul.
Fitness retreats run the gamut, from luxurious resort spas where every possible amenity is available and every need is indulged, to more Spartan resorts where the sole focus is on exercising and getting fit.

Feeling stressed out from every day life? Need some time to just get away from it all and unwind? The majority of women feel this way at some point or another. A great way to deal with this is to have a “Girls’ Night In”. Even if you’ve never been to one of these before it’s really easy to schedule one. All you need is one female, if not more, and be willing to let go and have fun.
Let’s get started with planning your girls’ night. First, you’ll want to pick someone’s house to have it at, whether it’s your own or one of your female friend’s houses. Now that you know where you’re going to hold the event you need to figure out what the plans will be for the evening. There aren’t any real rules as to what you can and can’t do during a Girls’ Night In. Each one is different. You make up your own rules. The only key ingredient is to have fun. Many women will settle in for movies and junk food during their Girls’ Night In event. Sometimes they will also pick a theme for each time they schedule their event. It could be anywhere from watching strictly romance flicks to watching only comedy flicks. You could even grab a bunch of movies, focusing your theme around a certain actor or actress. Use your imagination!
