Asbestos seemed like a miracle substance when it began to be used in building materials. It was a good insulator and made materials fireproof. From the 1950′s to the early 1980′s, asbestos containing materials (ACMs) were used extensively in UK buildings. Unfortunately, asbestos, as it ages, gives off dust made up of tiny fibers that enter and lodge in the lungs of those who are exposed to it. These fibers have been proven to cause a type of lung cancer called mesothelioma. There are two major types of mesothelioma.
Pleural mesothelioma affects the lungs and chest. The symptoms of pleural mesothelioma include pain in the chest, pain in the lower back, coughing, hoarseness, and breathing problems. The patient may have a fever, anemia, and weight loss. They may lose muscle strength and their senses may be affected. The arms and face swell, and the patient coughs up blood.
Peritoneal mesothelioma affects the abdominal cavity, including the stomach, liver, spleen, and bowel. The patient will have fluid accumulating in the abdominal cavity which, causing bloating. Other symptoms include swollen feet, nausea, vomiting, and bowel problems. The patient may run a fever. Continue reading »

When deciding on an exercise regimen, it is always important to pick something that involves resistance training. Even if you only do resistance training two days a week, it still offers many health benefits that are worth working for. Most of the time, resistance training refers to the use of weights, although other resistance training materials such as special bands, cords, etc. may sometimes be substituted. This type of exercise is especially important because it increases bone density and builds muscle. As you age and your body begins to replace muscle with fat, resistance training is especially beneficial for replacing and maintaining good muscle tone. Even when you are resting, muscles burn calories, and this is another fantastic reason to work at building strong muscles.

Already linked to a reduced risk for a variety of heart-related ailments, an ingredient in red wine has now been found to have possible life extension benefits in a series of studies that have been hailed as groundbreaking.
Resveratrol, a chemical found in red wine and other foods, has been shown in mice to reverse the effects of obesity, help the animals live longer, and increase their exercise endurance as well. Articles published in November 2006 in the journals Cell and Nature have cited several research studies in which ordinary lab mice given resveratrol can run twice as far as mice without the components, have greater energy in their muscles, and also have a reduced heart rate: some of the same characteristics seen in trained athletes. Though the studies involved only mice, the researchers said they had no reason to believe that similar health and life extension effects couldn’t be achieved in humans as well.

Do you suffer from this misconception about women and their femininity when it comes to training and working out with weights?
You can be forgiven for believing that women don’t look very feminine when they work out with weights.
The wrong impression is given by the media when women bodybuilders are featured. They are generally shown when they are at their ripped and vascular contest peak or when actually training with weights in the gym. This is when their skin is thinnest and fat is lowest in order to show the most detail and striation of every muscle. On top of that, all the images people see are when muscularity is maximized by the poses. Rarely are they shown standing normally with muscles relaxed. They are instead shown pumped and tight from exercise.
Furthermore, women bodybuilders only look like that once or twice a year at the end of the training for competition cycle. Continue reading »

In recent years the longing to return to the roots of simplicity has become a rekindled flame in the hearts of many people. Our current system of living leaves much to be desired. More people are realizing that something is missing. Whether that elusive element is called spirit, source, God or higher consciousness the longing remains the same.
No matter how fulfilling our lives may be there is an emptiness that goes unfulfilled. To fill this void many different paths are taken. Technology looks to the future as archaeology looks to the past. Science seeks the answers in logic while religionists gaze toward the heavens. Materialists seek outward fulfillment while others turn within. Medicine seeks to eradicate disease as well as many of us strive for a more peaceful, meaningful existence. But we must ask ourselves if anything medical or otherwise can ever be effectively accomplished more than a temporary stand off without bringing into harmony the unity of body, mind and spirit.

Calcium is well-known for its connection to healthy, strong bones and teeth. Calcium is a major contributing factor to the prevention of bone density loss and osteoporosis. These are by far the most obvious benefits of this important mineral, but there are actually many other benefits to consuming an adequate amount of calcium in your daily diet.
Calcium directly affects the hormones that control the condition of your arteries. Healthy arteries and low blood pressure are associated with healthy calcium levels in the body. Since your arteries and blood pressure affect the heart, calcium is highly beneficial in maintaining a healthy heart. Calcium is also connected with the health of your colon, and particularly the prevention of colon polyps and colon cancer. Calcium has an important role in maintaining a healthy weight, as well. The same hormone that influences the health of your arteries affects the way your body absorbs nutrients and fat. When this hormone is properly regulated by calcium, it is easier to maintain your weight.
Maintaining healthy levels of calcium is easy to do by monitoring your diet and, if necessary, taking a calcium supplement every day. Dairy products, dark green vegetables, and lintels are just some of the foods that are high in calcium. Continue reading »

Climax is not a disease or disorder of the organism. Menopause is a transient state between two life stages of women when menstrual bleeding terminates. Various symptoms testify about hormonal changes during menopause. If consider menopause signs, the first is the age. Menopause occurs in certain age, therefore knowing approximate period we can compare to other signs and realize that menopause has come. The exact age of climax is impossible to define, because the processes responsible for ovaries activity have not been studied yet. Also we can say that this process occurs individually, but certain average time frames of menopause coming can be defined. It is the age of 45-56 years. However, as it was told above, it can be observed individually, earlier or later. The shorter time intervals between menstrual periods can be the first sign of menopause approaching. During menopause, menstrual periods come unexpectedly.

Every woman experiences the specific period called menopause or climax. Menopause is a period in women characterized by disorder of estrogen hormones release. These hormones define activity of ovaries and hypophysis. Usually this process starts in the female organism after the age of 45 to 55 years, and its average duration is from 4 to 8 years.

Menopause is divided into three stages: pre-menopause (from the beginning of lowering ovaries function to menopause), menopause (the last menstrual periods), and post-menopause (from the end of the last menstrual periods to the end of the life cycle). The process occurs gradually and woman is getting used to changes without serious affecting. But very often women feel menopause depression.
The scientists have been trying for over the century to find correlation between menopause and depression. The physiological and psychological changes observed during menopause depression have not been studied yet. Many mood swings are caused by estrogen deficiency, however it is not always like this, so it cannot be explained by the specific factors. Menopause was always associated with the period when women are especially sensitive to mental disorders. However, psychological disorders depend on various factors. The mislead of hate and rage to one’s self instead of people around in belief of causing loss of people around. (A character in that kind of a structure has not had regular and sufficient mother- child relation in one’s early 1-2 years. The depression the person goes through is related to a real or assumed loss.)
- As a person, one’s surroundings and expectations from future, ideals and one’s real situation could be so very different from the real world, so distracted and so inappropriate that being not able to reach these high standards may lead to weakness and loneliness thoughts and depression.
- One’s super ego could be so powerful and dominant that it restricts, blames, takes away from comforting and pleasure-giving activities, as if torturing.
- People around one may expect so many things that it’s impossible to establish. This may lead to some thoughts of weakness and misery and turn them into depression.
