If you’d like to temporarily transform your curly or wavy tresses into straight, sleek hair, a straightening iron can give you the smooth look you are after.
How do Straightening Irons Work?
When hair is heated and tension is applied, some of the bonds in the hair are disrupted. The result: temporarily straight hair. Wetting your hair will reverse the effect. In humid weather your hair absorbs moisture from the air and your straightened hair will not remain that way for as long as it would on drier days.

In some cultures, hair was considered to be magical. Hair could mean the difference between life and death, or freedom and slavery.
Some people believed that hair contained strength. Cutting the hair was frowned upon and discouraged. An example is demonstrated with the biblical character Samson. He was very powerful, but lost all his strength once his hair was cut.
In Germany, long-hair was a sign of freedom and wealth. As a result, the heads of convicts and slaves were shaven. The sight of a shaved head let everyone know the person was a member of lower society.

“Give me some hair, long beautiful hair.” It’s an excerpt from the rock musical Hair. It was rooted in a time when both men and women wanted and often had long and beautiful hair. The Pop at the Mom and Pop store would give anything to have his hair back, the way it was when he was only twenty. So would his dentist. So would the dentist’s wife. All over the world people are turning to hairpieces, hair extensions, hair implants to cover bald spots and look younger and sexier. They also turn to hair-growth pills, creams, and lotions. Many companies grew even richer producing all these products.
Other people are just as busy trying to remove hair from their upper lip, their chests, their arms, their legs, their back, their ears, and even their bikini line. They resort to creams, laser removal, shaving, waxing, and other treatments. Many companies also grew richer by selling expensive hair removal products and procedures. Whole salons are devoted to removing unwanted hair.

Hairstyles come and hairstyles go, but one of the most popular and classic of all looks is the so-called bob hairstyle. The bob haircut is one of the most classic of all looks, and the beauty of this hairstyle is that is flattering to many different face shapes. The bob hairstyle first came into vogue during the 1920s, when the flappers and a number of silent film stars made it popular.
One of the film stars most closely identified with the bob hairstyle was Louise Brooks. Louise Brooks was a stunning, dark haired actress who was chiefly known for starring in the many silent films that were so popular during the decade which came to be known as the Roaring Twenties. Ms. Brooks came to be known as quite a trendsetter, both for her movies and her classic bob hairstyle. Continue reading »

Bangs are never out of style. Whether short and gamin, or long and feathery, bangs can make your face look radically different. You can cut your own bangs very successfully, once you have decided on the style you want.
It is best to cut hair when it damp, as you can get a cleaner line this way. So wash your hair first, let it damp dry then comb it out.
For short bangs, comb down your hair from just above the hairline, depending on the thickness you want. Remember that hair springs back when it is dry, so do not cut it to the length you actually want. Cut a fraction lower to allow for the length it will have when it is dry.
For example, if you want your bangs to just skim the eyebrows, cut a fraction lower across the eyebrows. Use very sharp scissors intended for hair cutting. Scissors used for other purposes, like cutting paper or fabric, will hack your hair and make it uneven. Continue reading »

There probably comes a time in every woman’s life when she decides to have her hair cut short. But before embarking on what can be for some women quite a momentous occasion, it’s important to take one major factor into consideration, and that’s the shape of your face. There are few more stressful times in a woman’s life than the month surrounding her wedding. Everyone’s focus is on her, and she is making decisions that are both irrevocable and destined to live for eternity in photos and memory.
If ever there was a time when a solid beauty regimen is truly important, this is the time. Stress takes a toll on skin and hair. Late hours, tearful moments, and the odd diet that comes with a round of showers, food-tastings and fast-food fill-ups on long shopping trips can spell disaster at that all-important moment when the camera catches the “I do” close-up.
How is a girl to cope? These simple hints should get you through:

Genetics may play a part in the loss of our hair, but personal preference plays the larger role in determining how we deal with it. Whether we have major hair loss or just a bit of minor thinning out, options are available to disguise that fact. From surgical to non-surgical methods, hair replacement technology weaves an almost magical spell of hair the form that hair was meant to be.
Hairpieces
Fortunately for the wearer of today’s hairpiece, technology has come a long way from the earliest models of hairpieces. In fact, some of the better hairpieces are almost indistinguishable from the real thing.
Obviously, price dictates quality. Therefore, if you expect a fine quality product, then you must realize that you will probably pay a higher price for it. Custom made pieces offer more versatility for the individual wearer of the hairpiece.
