Long, lovely healthily hair is breathtaking to behold, but it doesn’t just grow that way overnight. There are numerous tips you can use to help you get that long hair in no time. You will have to invest more of your time than your short, or medium length counterparts, but it will be well worth it in the end. There is nothing more eye-catching then long, radiant hair!

    Your Health and Long Hair

It is very important what you eat, as it truly does affect your hair. Hair is made up of ninety percent a-keratin protein and ten percent water. For this reason avoid crash diets or low protein diets. It is also suggested to supplement your food intake with protein. Some possible sources of protein are: liver, wheat germ, granulated lecithin, and brewer’s yeast.

A daily multi vitamin and mineral supplement (should include biotin) will help your hair in several ways. Foods rich in B and E vitamins, sulfur, magnesium, and zinc are great for your hair. Try to include as many vitamin and mineral rich foods in your diet and you will reap the benefits of long, luscious, healthy hair.

Avoid grease and fatty foods when possible. Salt and sodium high products should be avoided also. All pre-processed foods, including most fast foods, have high amounts of chemicals added to them and should be avoided. If you eat healthy, it will show in your long healthy hair.

Hair Care Tips For Long Hair

There are countless things you can do or not do, which will assist you in growing long beautiful hair. The following are some of the most common:

    • Brushing – do not use a brush to take tangles out of your hair. This will cause your hair to stretch and possibly break. Use a pick, your fingers, or a wide-tooth comb. Brush only when your hair is completely dry. If you have tangles in your hair, work from the tip of your hair up to the root. Work on a small section at a time and do not pull the hair; be very gentle. It is easier to detangle dry hair than wet. It is important to brush your hair often to release the oil through all of it. Use long strokes when brushing, from the roots of your hair down.
    • Washing – there are many types of shampoos specifically for long hair or problem hair. Use conditioners often, but only apply from the ears down.
    • Drying – do not rub your hair with a towel to dry it, but blot it. Air dry whenever possible.
    • Styling – avoid using heated products such as blow dryers, curling irons, hot rollers, and alike on your hair. If they have cool settings, use them.
    • Other Quick Tips
      • Cover hair when outside.
      • Trim hair approximately every two months.
      • Satin pillowcases are the best for your hair.
      • Avoid untreated bands, clips, or bows. Use cloth-covered bands instead.

These are just a few of the countless ways you can care for long hair. If you follow them you are sure to have long and lovely hair for all to admire!
